Shahrukh Khan the KING of Bollywood
Shahrukh Khan a well known bollywood celebrity known in most parts of the world for his lifestyle and his career as an actor. An insight into the famous life of ‘SRK’ or King Khan as he is known in India.
Shahrukh Khan was born on 2nd Nov, 1965 to Taj Mohammed Khan & Lateefa Fatima Mohammed. He has an elder sister Shehnaz Lalarukh (who was residing with him until recently as per updates).
Shahrukh’s father was a lawyer by profession but never practiced the profession; he came from a well-to-do family but lost most of his wealth by helping others. His father was a man of patience and an honest man, Shahrukh stated in one of the interviews that “honesty killed his father”.
Lateefa was much the opposite in some ways; she was a strong woman by character, “never say die!” was her motto.
Shahrukh shares the qualities of his parents, patience, honesty and diligence from his father and a spirit to move ahead and never look back – like his mother.
SRK grew up in Delhi the capital of India. SRK schooled at St. Columbas School and earned the ‘Sword of Honor’ for the best student.
SRK completed his degree from Hansraj College, Delhi University. He further went on to do his Masters in Mass Communication (Film Making) from Jamiya Milia Islamiya University, in New Delhi, however, left after a year and decided he wanted to make his career in acting.
Subjects that he was excelled at were Hindi, Electronics and Biology but Math wasn’t his favouite.
Before moving to Mumbai to start his career in acting, it is said that for a short while SRK managed a restaurant in New Delhi known as ‘Dariya Ganj’ .
Shahrukh loved TV commercials and hence wanted to pursue a Masters in Mass communication. SRK left the course mid-way & went to Mumbai in the late 1980’s and thought of making it in the acting fraternity to earn enough for a good life for his family and himself.

Shahrukh Khan’s first break was in a TV serial known as ‘Circus’ – depiction of life in a circus, he went almost unnoticed. SRK’s recognition came through the next TV serial ‘Fauji’ – a story about the life of a soldier in the Indian Army. Shahrukh caught the eye of many a producer in Mumbai and won the hearts of the common household for his performance and boyish charm onscreen.
The bollywood actor struck gold in the industry in 1992. He was offered roles in bollywood most of which were negative characters; however, he never turned it down like most other new actors of the time would think to be risqué.
Shahrukh Khan’s debut was in the film ‘Deewana’ starring the famous Rishi Kapoor & Divya Bharti. He went on and achieved his first debut Filmfare award for ‘Deewana’, after that, there was no stopping, SRK continued to strike the industry with his performance and bagged Filmfare awards for best actor in the years that followed.
Shahrukh has had some Flops as well like most other newcomers some of the movies that flopped at the box office for SRK were Maya (1993), Anjaam (1994), Duplicate (1998), and a few more until 2007.
A BOX OFFICE super hit was ‘Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ – Produced and Directed by Mr. Yash Chopra and his all time favourite co-star Kajol. The movie ran several shows and was SRK’s road to fame. Shahrukh made more box office hits with Yash Chopra such as ‘Dil tho Pagal hai” co-starring the famous Madhuri Dixit and Kareena Kapoor.

Shahrukh also featured on the reality show on TLC in 2010 “Living with the Superstar – Shahrukh Khan” which had the entire Indian population glued to their telly’s for the entire season.
SRK hosted the Indian version of “Are you smarter than a 5th Grader?’ called “Kya aap paanchvi pass say tez hain?”which got good reviews only because he hosted it.
Scandals!!! about the town were that Shahrukh was tri-sexual and as SRK rightly puts it, “If I talk to a girl, it’s assumed that I’m having a scene with her. If I don’t, then it’s assumed that I’m gay.” The question remains unanswered.
