English actor Jamie Campbell Bower

Early Life and Ventures

The English actor Jamie Campbell Bower was born on November 22nd 1988, in London, England. His mother, Anne Elizabeth, is a music manager and his father, David Bower, works for the Gibson Guitar Corporation.  Jamie attended the independent school, Bedales, in Hampshire. It is renowned for its unconventional curriculum and an emphasis on the arts. The Good Schools Guide describes it as, ‘good for individuals and articulate nonconformists.’  Jamie was a former member of the National Youth Music Theatre, during his education there.  Jamie honed his natural acting ability and singing talent. Jamie was lead singer of the band The Darling Buds and he was a part time model signed to the prestigious modelling agency Select Model Management.

Jamie Campbell Bower as Caicus

Jamie Campbell Bower started his professional acting career in 2007, when his friend and fellow actor and musician, Laura Michelle Kelly, recommended him to her agent. He was then signed to the agency Dalzell and Beresford LTD. In the same year, Jamie made his acting debut in the television drama, The Dinner Party. He was also cast as Anthony Hope, the understated hero, in Tim Burton’s film,Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Jamie gained momentum as he caught the attention of another established director. In 2008, he was cast as Rocker in Guy Richie’s film, RocknRolla. In 2009, Jamie reached international acclaim when he was cast as Caicus, a Volturi member, in New Moon, the second book adaptation of the very popular Twilight Saga, by Stephenie Meyer. He joins the likes of Robert Pattinson and Michael Sheen, established British actors already attached to this franchise. He has reprised his role for the last film in the series; Breaking Dawn to be released in two parts. The first part had a November 18th 2011, release date and the second part was released last year. Jamie then swapped vampires for wizards, when he joined the cast of another blockbuster book adaptation; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the last book in the series. It has also been divided into two parts. He plays the character Gellert Grindelwald, Dumbledore’s fallen friend. Jamie has recently finished filming the historical thriller Anonymous, set in Elizabethan England. A release date is yet to be set.

TV Career

Jamie also ventured into TV, his first TV role was in the TV miniseries, The Prisoner, about a government agent who is kidnapped and sent to an isolated island only  known as ‘the Village’. His next TV role was as King Arthur in the TV series Camelot.

Personal Life

In April 2001, Jamie Campbell Bower proposed to his girlfriend Harry Potter star, Bonnie Wright, after only months of dating. They met on the Harry Potter set. Jamie has been quoted saying: ‘we are completely in love. It all seems very whirl wind, but it’s the real deal.’

With his diverse film roles and knack for periodicals, Jamie is considers to be a promising up and comer.
