Film Lighting Course London

Entry level: Beginner - Intermediate

The Film Lighting foundation course is a practical hands on introduction to unleashing your creative lighting skills. The lighting workshop will encourage lighting students to learn and develop their own style and approach to lighting.

Starting from basics, we will look at the role of the Key, Fill and Backlight. These are the building blocks of all lighting plots for film and TV.

What happens during the course

Learn how to shape and control light and learn how to use shadow to add shape and texture

It’s the human face that is the common subject on film. Learn how to light the human face well and you will be able to light almost any situation well.



Learn the art of using light and shade to convey day or night and to create realistic lighting effects while still having enough level of light to shoot good pictures.

London Academy Students experiment with reflectors and look at different lighting techniques used to suggest darkness while providing interesting lighting for the scene.
