1. Understand the principles of non-linear editing
2. Digitise and import material
3. Do and assemble edit by using splice-in and overwrite
4. Use trim mode to refine your edits
5. Learn how to use Transitions
6. Using Video Effects (composite effects, secondary colour correction, keying, split screens etc)
7. Create and animate titles
8. Edit audio
9. Colour Correction and finishing
10. Export using AVI, Quick Time, Play out to tape

This course is targeted at anyone wishing to learn the principles of Non Linear Editing using Avid Media Composer, one of the most popular editing applications on the planet, used for films, such as Memoirs of a Geisha and I am Legend, and TV shows, such as Lost.

Starting from basics, it is ideal for beginners, as well as industry professionals wishing to learn how to manipulate Video, Sound and Graphics.

The course takes a ‘hands on’ approach and includes a variety of practical exercises enabling delegates to edit their own project for multi-media, television and the Internet.



Taught by seasoned professionals you will enjoy and learn the workings of the industry standard editing platform for the PC.

This courses is an excellent opportunity to experience hands-on practical training at one of Londons' prestigious training Academies.



The tutor: Tim Rogg is an award winning freelance director and editor. He studied at Bournemouth Film school in 1991-1993. He started out making short films and was represented by British Council for a comedy short film called “In Frank’s Head”.

He was signed with advertising company Sneezing Tree where he made several commercials and has worked with several agencies (including JWT & Mother). Tim has also made many internet virals for MTV, Virgin Media and Sony Ericsson. He currently works in both television and advertising
